2024 Olympic games
In Summer 2024, I organized a themed “Olympic Games” event where each activity was inspired by an official Olympic sport, but with a playful twist. Guests competed in teams, and every game was designed to encourage collaboration, energy, and a little friendly competition. Below are the games I created, along with their supplies, setup, and objectives.
Skill Highlight: This event showcases my creativity in adapting familiar concepts into new, interactive formats. It emphasizes my ability to plan and facilitate inclusive group activities that build camaraderie and keep participants energized from start to finish.
Supplies Needed:
5 mini basketball hoops (door size)
5 mini basketballs
Fence + nails for mounting
Point value signs (10, 20, 50)
Setup: Attach hoops to the fence at varying heights/difficulty, each labeled with a point value.
Objective / How to Play: One shooter from each team has 60 seconds to score as many points as possible while teammates act as rebounders and scorekeepers. Highest score wins!
Baskee-ball
Supplies Needed:
Tin foil
“Poop” emoji toys (or pennies)
Container for water
Optional: Yellow & green food dye
Setup: Fill container with water. Add in optional food dye to make water a “gross” color. Provide each team with a sheet of tin foil.
Objective / How to Play: Teams have 60 seconds to construct a tin foil boat. Boats are then tested in the pool by adding poop toys/pennies until they sink. The boat that holds the most weight wins.
Boat weight Competition: Poop Sail
Note: This game was inspired by the controversy surrounding the open water events in the Seine during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where elevated levels of E. coli raised concerns about water safety. Our version keeps things lighthearted — no real germs involved, just plenty of laughs!
Supplies Needed:
Dartboard (bullseye side mimics Olympic archery)
Extra darts
Setup: Standard dartboard placement.
Objective / How to Play: Each team plays 3 rounds, with 4 darts per round. After 3 rounds, the team with the highest total points wins.
Darchery
Supplies Needed:
Blocks of ice with movie quotes frozen inside
Printed movie posters
Movie quotes printed on colored paper (inside the ice)
Setup: Freeze quotes inside blocks of ice ahead of time. Place posters across the play area.
Objective / How to Play: Teams break open ice blocks to retrieve quotes. In a relay, one player at a time runs to match a quote with the correct poster. The first team to correctly place all quotes wins.
Frozone Movie Challenge
Supplies Needed:
Gaming system with Mario Kart
Tournament bracket
Setup: Create bracket for 3-team, 2-team, and 1v1 rounds.
Objective / How to Play: Teams compete in elimination rounds until one champion remains.
Round 1: Blue vs. Yellow → Winner vs. Red
Round 2: Green vs. Black
Round 3: Winner of Round 1 vs. Winner of Round 2
